While we finish setting up our online shop, I wanted to share a special inca whistle jar for sale.

This piece was created for a ceramics exhibition in Quito, Ecuador and is 100% original, not a replica of any sort. A distinguishing feature of this vessel is its beautiful, low whistle (which sounds better when wet!), in contrast with other inca whistle jars that tend to emit higher sounds. The sounds also resemble those of a bird.

The price of this Inca whistle jar is $400, not including shipping, and it ships from Ecuador so shipping can cost from $100-200, unless the sale happens to coincide with a trip to the USA or Europe.

More about the Inca Whistling Jar

It should be pointed out that there are whistling jars from many different Pre-Columbian civilizations, not just the Incas. However, the Incas are also known for art and artifacts.

As with other whistling jars, this jar has two spouts, and when it is filled with liquid and tilted, it produces a rather haunting sound. The sound is believed to have been used in Inca religious ceremonies and the artifacts themselves were often placed in tombs with their owners so as to accompany them in the afterlife. What exactly they symbolize continues to be a mystery.
